A BIT ABOUT SCOTT
As many of us tend to do, I never really took my health and fitness seriously when I was younger. I had always been active, competing in swimming, playing touch, rugby league and rugby union but I was a heavy smoker from a very young age and enjoyed my alcohol.
It wasn’t until my toddlers refused to hug me when I returned home from work overseas because I smelled of cigarettes that I realised things had to change. As an older parent I wanted to remain, fit, active and healthy to be able to play and spend quality time with them for years to come.
It took me a while to mentally convince myself to stop smoking- it’s been just over five years now. I got myself a personal trainer and took up boxing and then kickboxing for fitness. I was never really a fan of conventional gyms. Little did I know that this change would lead me to where I am now.
As a Security Manager in the Mining sector in Papua New Guinea for over 20 years I was exposed to a highly volatile and traumatic situations on a daily basis. Over the years in my mental health had taken a quite a beating. Without realising, over a short period of time, my workouts became my therapy. Cooped up in remote camp sites, I would gather coworkers for small group workouts every afternoon. I would convince more and more people to join and soon enough it became our constant.
When I returned to Australia in 2019, I was ready for a change of pace. Training had played such a huge part in rehabilitating my physical and mental health that pursuing a career in Fitness, that would allow me to help others, just seemed like a natural fit.
I haven’t looked back. I genuinely enjoy helping my clients exceed their goals and expectations no matter their barriers. I am proof that it’s never too late to start. Training with me is almost never glamorous, but it will be worth it in the long run.
